The sooner the window is repaired, the better the results. All standard windows can have the moisture removed. However, if the unit has been wet for a long time, mineral deposits may have formed on the inside glass surfaces.. The glass may have some water spots caused by weather. Most of these are removable using our patented process. If mineral deposits have been on the glass for an extended period they may have etched the inside surface of the glass. This is a permanent condition that, so far, cannot be reversed.
A major misconception is that windows are vacuum sealed. This is false. In fact, if they were, this would put one ton of force per foot on the glass and it would break. The space between the glass is pretty much sealed -- but not entirely so. With changes in air pressure small amounts of air leak in and out. This air contains a small amount of moisture in the form of water vapour. This moisture is anticipated, so during manufacturing of the unit, desiccant (silica pellets) are put inside the spacer bar. This system works well until the desiccant pellets reach the end of their useful life and become saturated with moisture. Mist or moisture then starts showing up between the glass. This trapped moisture dramatically reduces the R-Value of your window, upping your heating bills and damaging the glass. So repair your windows and maintain your property value. Avoid mineral deposits and a permanent white silica haze. The sooner you repair them, the better. This process is a permanent cure, not an instant one. We use liquid cleaners of various types to clean in between the glass and this liquid, together with the moisture already in between the glass, has to vent out before you will have a completely dry unit. Depending on the time of year and the amount of sunshine it may take one day to several weeks to completely dry out.
